Our long awaited Community Centre was formally handed over to the trustees on 20th December. Apart from a few very minor finishing touches, the building is complete with all major system up and running. Over the next few weeks we shall be getting furniture out of store and new chairs and tables delivered, as well as fitting some items of additional audio/visual equipment.
Before we can fully open we also need to finalise operating procedures to ensure the safety and comfort of our users. Obviously with the developing situation of the Covid pandemic, we are not yet in a position to know when we shall be able to open the building for full operation.
It is hoped that the Library will be able to operate in some form early in the new year, once the books and shelving have been moved across from the Annex. Residents are keen for the Coffee Mornings to restart and we plan for these to resume as soon as Covid restrictions allow and the necessary arrangements are in place. We are updating the Old School Community Centre web pages. Click Here to view.
The trustees would like to thank all the people who worked so hard to deliver the community centre. Thanks are also due to everyone who has supported the project, including all the fund raisers, donors and well-wishers. Also, we must not forget our neighbours who have had to put up with noise and dust from the construction work and previous hirers of the Old School who have had to find alternative venues while the Old School has been closed. We look forward to welcoming them back.
