Lisvane Community Association (LCA)

The LCA is primarily a co-ordination, communication, social and fund-raising body with the aim of benefiting Lisvane residents and encouraging community activities. It is a voluntary body and a registered charity with no statutory powers or responsibilities, therefore it does what the majority of its members wish it to do. Residents of Lisvane join the Association by paying a membership fee (currently £10 per annum for each household). Groups can join the LCA by paying an affiliation fee of £10 per annum. Membership brings entitlement to a free copy of the monthly LCA Newsletter (Lisvane LINK) which is delivered to each member household, and acts as the main communication medium within Lisvane – see below for LINK advertising , distribution and editorial contacts. The Community Association is run by a committee made up of elected community members and nominated representatives of various sporting, educational, social and leisure groups within the village. More information about these groups may be found on the Social, Sport & Leisure page. The committee meets regularly to discuss matters of common interest and concern, to agree any actions and to arrange community social and fund-raising activities, including the Summer Festival in June which includes indoor and outdoor events for all ages. Grants are also provided occasionally to groups or individuals in support of their activities.

The charitable objectives of the LCA are to:

1) Promote the benefit of the inhabitants of Lisvane and the neighbourhood without distinction of sex, race, political, religious or other opinions, associating with the community, local authorities, voluntary and other organisations to advance education and provide facilities for social welfare, recreation and leisure-time occupation, in order to improve the conditions of life for the inhabitants.
2) Promote such other charitable purposes as may be determined from time to time.
