Our Community Council

This site enables you to catch up on how your Community Council is serving you. These pages include all the minutes of Community Council Meetings. If there is anything that you feel the Council should be aware of or where it can help or support you, then please contact the Community Council.

Council Meetings:-
Lisvane Community Council meetings are normally held at 19:30pm on the second Monday of each month in the Committee Room on the Old School site. All Lisvane residents are welcome to attend. The first item on the agenda is reserved for Public Representation where individual residents or groups may address the Council.

Prior notice is not required. However, if a response to specific questions or issues is required, then it is advisable that the Clerk to the Council is contacted in advance so that any necessary documents and research may be prepared and brought to the meeting.

One of the regular topics discussed at the meetings is Lisvane Planning Applications. Whilst the Community Council has no powers of veto or approval, it can submit letters of support or objection on any planning application submitted to Cardiff County Council and passed on to us for comment.

The Community Council aims to act impartially and views any such proposals in the light of our policy of retaining the existing atmosphere and amenity of the village, whilst accepting the aspirations of residents to improve their properties.

Copies of planning applications are usually sent to neighbouring properties and/or others affected by the proposal and residents can respond to Cardiff County Council Strategic Planning & Environment directly. However, residents who are affected by any planning proposal are welcome to make their views known to the Community Council, either individually or as a group. Although prior notice to the Council is not required, it would assist us if a group representation was notified to us in advance so that adequate time for it may be scheduled.

It is important to bear in mind the timescales within which planning applications are considered and to respond within the published deadline so that any views may be considered by the Cardiff Planning Committee before a judgement is made.

Village Plan

Following a survey distributed to all residents of Lisvane, a plan was drawn up to assist the community to focus on the issues raised by the survey. Since then, there has been the Covid emergency, the opening of the new Community Centre at the Old School and further development of new houses in Lisvane. This plan is currently under review to reflect the changing needs of our community alongside the provision of new facilities and opportunities for residents.

However, the Village Plan team has produced an update to address loneliness in the current situation. Click Here to view the update. The existing published plan may be viewed by clicking Lisvane Community Plan v2020
