Located on the corner of Llwyn y Pia Road and Heol y Delyn, (CF14 0SX) the Old School complex is owned by Lisvane Community Council and has provided venues for many village activities in the past as well as accommodating the Community Library. The site is leased to the Lisvane Old School Community Centre (LOSCC) and is managed by a board of trustees as a registered charity (No 1156308). The 9 trustees represent Lisvane Community Council, Lisvane Community Association and the wider community. The Community Centre is run by the community, for the community.
Click HERE for details of current activities at the community centre. Details of weekly class activities can be found in the activity folders in the café area.
Rooms for Hire The new Community Centre’s rooms can be hired for activities, meetings and functions. Room and facilities descriptions may be viewed by clicking HERE. Conditions of hire may be viewed by contacting the Bookings Secretary (see below). To view Room Hiring Rates click HERE. Bookings for rooms are already being made by community groups and others for events and the trustees would like to welcome everyone to our new Community Centre.
The Community Library is located in the Old School Hall which is part of the original building and is now open on a regular basis. Further details can be viewed by clicking HERE.
Community Focus It is hoped that the new, extended facilities will enable an even greater focus on the needs of the community in terms of addressing loneliness, social inclusion, fitness, creativity and educational needs within a vibrant and welcoming setting, very much at the centre of village life.
Catering Facilities The café is open daily from Monday to Saturday from 9am to 3pm serving food and drinks and will be able to provide catering for hirers upon request.
Getting Involved. To achieve our vision of daily opening requires a number of people to staff the building. To achieve this within our current funding requires that the paid staff will need to be supported by volunteers. There are opportunities for volunteering in the following areas:
- administration, supporting bookings etc.;
- caretaking duties such as opening and locking up and preparation of rooms;
- cleaning;
- helping with the Library.
Nobody will be expected to be involved for periods longer than they are comfortable with and of course it’s a great way of meeting new friends. If you are interested, please contact Mrs Chris Davies (see below).
