Cardiff Rotary Clubs launch £15000 appeal to help Cardiff Food Bank

An appeal to raise £15000 to fit out a new larger warehouse for Cardiff Foodbank has been launched by eight Rotary Clubs in the city, including the 3 local Clubs of Cardiff Breakfast, Cardiff East, and Cardiff Llanishen.

The need for help with food and essential supplies has grown steadily since Cardiff Food Bank was started 11 years ago. The Bank has been able to grow to meet this but now faces a serious problem. The current Foodbank warehouse has become too small to meet with demand. They need twice as much space.

Racking, and equipment to move food around the warehouse, plus office facilities are needed. The Food Bank also hopes to be able to help clients prepare to seek work and build skills such as cooking.

All 3 local Clubs have been helping the Foodbank with food collections and running costs but now have come together with others to launch the appeal. Contributions to this worthwhile cause can be made through a Just Giving page:

Unfortunately, the Just Giving page doesn’t allow Gift Aid to be added on line. However, if you would like to add Gift Aid just email Jeff Hobden on jeffhobden56@gmail.com or Phil Harris on harris.p11@sky.com and a form can be supplied very easily.

Eleanor Sanders, Chair of Trustees at Cardiff Foodbank commented: “Cardiff Foodbank has grown over the 11 years we have been in operation as we respond to the basic requirement to help people put food on their tables. We are now the biggest foodbank in Wales helping over 1000 people a month. The Covid crisis has seen a further increase in demand for help. We are grateful that Cardiff Rotary clubs have come together to raise the £15000 we need to fit out our new larger warehouse so we can help more families and individuals who struggle to put food on their tables”

If you would like to help, please donate via the Just Giving page and spread the word to other sympathetic friends and family.
