PARC CEFN ONN
Cardiff Council Parks and the Planning, Transport and Environment service have been in discussions with the Shared Regulatory Service and South Wales Police in order to identify the most appropriate solution to the parking concerns at Parc Cefn Onn.
After careful consideration of the issues and owing to the importance of the site from an ambulatory perspective the Council is proposing to restrict car parking to Blue Badge holders only, with this arrangement coming into force from Saturday 13th February 2021. We plan to install signage to this effect on the entrance to the site.
Cardiff Council understands the pressures that have been placed on Cherry Orchard Road and the suggestion that cones could be placed to prevent parking, however this would, in our view result in cars being displaced into residential side roads creating more issues for the surrounding community. Similarly signposting park users to the Lisvane Railway Station has the potential to attract visitors from outside of the local area which is contrary to the current COVID Regulations which requires people to exercise from home and not to travel to do so.
To support the proposals above South Wales Police will, subject to resources available continue to undertake enforcement activities in line with the current COVID Regulations and will have a presence on site over the weekend.
Moreover and at this very challenging time it is critical that individuals take personal responsibility by following the regulations laid out, the arrangements proposed will be reviewed in light of operational experience and any future changes in the regulations.
